Profiling Orthodontics 1

11/06/2010

Traditionally orthodontics deals with straightening crooked teeth, and this is important.

But crooked teeth are a sign that there has been inadequate development of the upper and/or lower jaws. The jaws are important. We use them every day for chewing, smiling, talking and breathing. If the jaws are too small, you might snore, sleep poorly, have pain or difficulty eating, and your profile will be affected.

Orthodontics should be done in a way that creates a great smile, and corrects facial cosmetics as well. These changes can be made without any need for surgery in most cases. Every case is individual. Correcting the pattern of facial growth establishes a healthy base for adult life.
